2TB to reach 8000 pesos in PHL ?

I regularly order disks, 2 TB disks in particular. Its regular enough that i find myself wondering why has the price now 55% more than what i used to pay for it for that same model or brand.

And i heard from a source a PC retail box got lucky with 1000 disks order before prices went up and sells them with their PC. That's fine but they are selling it at %60 profit on disk alone. Hoarding disks much?

Thanks to the Internet, smart media players can download contents from torrent files. Instead of waiting for the latest episode to hit the tube, you can download  them from the Net,  you just need to know where to look.

I just turn my trusty old R200, post the torrents i need , and leave it to download. I don't get as big a cost now than when i fire up my PC at night and leave it running, so the egreat R200 is my  torrent go-to device. Either via WIFI or LAN, you can put that internet bandwidth to good use.

Speaking of bandwidth, did you know that subscribers in the Philippines pay the highest fees for broadband connection  even if you  get below average service?

While there was talk of then of national broadband that got into a scandal, but the idea is there -- to introduce an alternative for the average Pinoy (including the underprivileged).  Telco never play fair  because they use it to their advantage over smaller players.  Poor routing at top tier leads to poor service for smaller tier, and ultimately small players lose out customers.

With recent news, the more we should be worried so support antitrust law moves now! This will prevent wiseguys from cornering the market, impose ridiculous rates, and when poorly managed charge their loses to subscribers. We have abled lawmakers who can put this across, but they will  need support from us.

Given we are one of the emerging countries that are preferred by BPOs, we can take advantage of this by providing better link and service to its customers, not just for developed areas but targeted cities to be developed for BPO. not all cities will be able to sustain it. The right talent pool and the right connection plays a big role in this. So key is for government/industry to join hands and identify specific areas in our thousands of islands where you can ensure to build the last mile at most reasonable cost. Forget jamming  facilities into Metro Manila, expand to locations where talent pool is abundant. Push the education ministry to be more sensitive and align to the jobs that we need to reduce job mismatch.
